During 2005 Pöntinen has offered an impressive cross section of his wide concerto repertoire.Since January he has performed both Mozart K.467 and 482 , Beethoven’s Fifth (”Emperor”), Tchaikovsky No.1, the Grieg, Rachmaninov No.2 and Rachmaninov's"Paganini Rhapsody", the Finnish and Norwegian première of Veli-Matti Puumala’s Piano Concerto, as well as the première of Anders Hillborg’s Piano Concerto (2nd version).
Both the Puumala and Hillborg concerto was composed directly for Pöntinen.
Orchestras have been, among others, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra (under Venzago), Stavanger Symphony Orchestra (with Susanna Mälkki), London Philharmonic Orchestra (under Marin Alsop) and the Avanti Chamber Orchestra under Esa-Pekka Salonen .

Pöntinen will round off this year with Weber’s Konzertstück in Edinburgh (15 December) and Glasgow (16 December) together with Scottish Chamber Orchestra and conductor John Storgårds.





In November Pöntinen played Mozart K.482, E flat, in Storkyrkan, Stockholm with members of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Royal Stockholm Philharmonics conducted by Gustaf Sjökvist. Pöntinen used the cadenzas by Benjamin Britten, written for Sviatoslav Richter in 1966.
