AUSTRALIA TOUR
In April and beginning of May Roland Pöntinen played in four australian cities - Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Hobart and also gave a master class at the Sydney Conservatory. During three weeks he performed Mozart’s Concerto No.15 in B flat major K.450,Rachmaninov’s Concerto No.3 in D minor,a recital with solo works by Bach/Liszt,Chopin,Medtner,Ravel,Strauss/Friedman and finally Rachmaninov’s Paganini-Rhapsody. Pöntinen’s playing was enthusiasticly received by the audience,critics and fellow musicians.

On the 24th of May the Polar Music Prize was awarded to B.B.King and György Ligeti. At the Prize Ceremony at Konserthuset,Stockholm ,Pöntinen performed the third movement from Ligetis Pianoconcerto together with the Stockholm Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and their chief conductor Alan Gilbert.Later the same evening,during the Prize Banquet, Roland Pöntinen played three Ligeti etudes.
