![]() Love Derwinger and Roland Pöntinen – both accomplished solo pianists - have since the mid-eighties explored the exciting repertoire for two pianos together. As a duo they have made highly succesful concert tours in Scandinavia, Germany, England, Italy, Belgium and Holland. By combining the standard repertoire for two pianos with lesser known works and also by revitalizing the concert form itself Derwinger and Pöntinen have created unusual and intriguing recital programmes.A case in point is a programme called ”Pan– God of The Summer Wind” where Kurtág’s transcriptions of Bach Choral Preludes are interlocked with works by Debussy and Ligeti and concluded with Ravel’s La Valse inZoltan Kocsis brilliant version. The entire programme is played as a suite with no applause in-between numbers. Bartók’s famous Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion is of course one of the cornerstones in the duo’s repertoire. Both the Bartók Sonata as well as Berio’s Linea are featured on frequent tours together with Anders Loguin and Johan Silvmark–members of the renowned percussion ensemble Kroumata. Another fruitful collaboration has been with Paul Taylor Dance Company in Stravinsky’s Le Sacre du Printemps which they performed at Dansens Hus,Stockholm and within the Bergen Festival in 2000.
